In our dated Tokyo benchmark, 89 of 100 Japan-entry queries returned zero. That is a provider result for a fixed query set and location—not proof that Japanese demand is zero.
What the benchmark can support:
• Preserve the exact query string, date, and location.
• Test spaced and compact forms separately.
• Keep Japanese, English, kana, kanji, and common spelling variants visible.
• Inspect the actual SERP.
• Compare a second signal such as Search Console, Trends, paid-search data, or customer language.
Eight of ten explicit spaced-versus-compact pairs returned a positive result for the spaced form and zero for the compact form. We do not claim a causal explanation. We do claim that a zero should enter a follow-up queue, not become an automatic no-demand verdict.
Mangools helped us apply the fixed set and preserve returned, zero, and unavailable states. It did not establish nationwide demand, traffic, conversion, or revenue. Search Console answers a different question: what your own site actually received.
